Best Practices in Online Teaching & Learning

The list below will provide you with links to various resources (documents, websites, and online courses) that relate to the best practices of online instruction.

  1. *Connecticut Community College system's Distance Education Course Design: Guidelines for Student Success, developed for faculty by the system's Teaching & Learning Team. This document has also been reviewed and recommended for use by Connecticut Community College faculty by the Academic Deans Council, the Distance Learning Council, and the Center for Teaching. It is used in conjunction with all Blackboard training and development in the system.

  2. *Connecticut Community College system's "iTeach Essentials" course
This comprehensive 9-week fully online course has been developed internally exclusively for faculty in the Connecticut Community College system who are interested in teaching fully-online courses. It is open to any fulltime or adjunct instructors who meet the required pre-requisites. Topics in this course include both pedagogical as well as technical best practices of online teaching and classroom management. For more information about the course and how to register, please visit the iTeach webpage.

* Starred items are recommended, as they are internally-developed resources for our faculty.
