Best Practices in Online Teaching & Learning
  1. "Effective Teaching Practices for Web-Enhanced, Hybrid and Online Classes", developed for Connecticut Community Colleges faculty by the WebCT Vista Teaching & Learning Team.
     
  2. "Teach Online" Pedagogy & Techniques
    This comprehensive website, developed by Michigan State University, addresses issues related to enhancing teaching and learning in an online environment in a variety of ways, including the development of course content; how to enhance participation, interaction, and discussion; incorporating active learning into the online environment, assessment issues, etc.
     
  3. Florida Gulf Coast U's "Principles of Online Design"
    Principles, guidelines, and examples for faculty who are interested in designing online instructional materials and activities.
     
  4. Penn State's "Faculty Development 101" Course
    An online course open to the public, which Penn State designed for faculty who need to develop and teach a distance education course via their "World Campus". Chock full of useful lessons relevant to the development of key competencies for distance educators, including those utilizing distance technology as part of their classroom-based, "web-enhanced" courses.
     
  5. Distance Education Faculty Training Program
    An online course open to the general public, produced by the University of Florida. Well organized, easy to follow recommendations for faculty who are new to the process of developing materials for online delivery.

Rubric for Online Instruction: From this link, you can access the home page developed by the Committee for Online Instruction at California State University, Chico, which developed a high quality rubric for the design of online instruction.
