Webinars, Fully-online Courses in Blackboard
Vista, and Hybrid Courses for Faculty & Staff
Webinar Training Sessions & Meetings
Some training classes for faculty and staff -- as well as some
meetings -- are now being
delivered via an online web conferencing service called WebEx.
If you plan to attend a meeting or training class that will be delivered via WebEx,
please carefully review the technical requirements below.Technical requirements:
-
To join a webinar, you must have high-speed Internet access
(from your home or office). Here are some
simple instructions on how to join a WebEx meeting.
-
Although some meetings that use WebEx
may make use of a phone conference call, many training webinars will
make use of
VoIP
(Voice over Internet) for participants to hear the audio in the
session. Therefore, if you plan to participate in a training
session, please assume that you
will need a headset with a microphone -- a built-in
mic with speakers is discouraged, because it can cause a distracting
audio delay to the presenter. VoIP is particularly advantageous to those who
would otherwise need to call in long-distance. It also enables us
to capture all audio in training presentations that are recorded.
-
Your trainer or meeting organizer will contact you in advance
of the session (probably by email) to provide the web address (URL)
that will enable you to join the webinar, as well as a meeting
Password. Be sure to save this information!
Fully-Online Classes in Blackboard Vista
Some training classes for faculty and staff are now being
delivered online using the Blackboard Vista course management system. If you
enroll for a training class that will be delivered via Blackboard Vista,
you need to carefully review the technical requirements, as well as the
specific skills pre-requisites for that particular course.
Technical requirements:
-
To participate in a fully-online course, you must have high-speed Internet access
(from your home or office--preferably both).
-
You must have all of the
Essential Pre-Blackboard Vista Skills.
Hybrid Training classes
Some training classes for faculty and staff are now being
delivered in a mixed online/on-ground format. You need the same
technical requirements for a hybrid class as for an online class,
although the skills requirements MAY be somewhat less, if part of the
class focuses on developing online skills. Please check the
pre-requisites specified for the course you're interested in.
