IITT Class Cancellation Policies

During regular semester sessions, any time that regular classes are either delayed or cancelled due to inclement weather announcements by the college, you should assume that any IITT staff or faculty training classes shall be cancelled (i.e., Blackboard Vista, MS Office applications, etc.) Most of the colleges' websites include information on how to obtain information about weather-related closings. To find a list of links to the website of all Connecticut Community Colleges, visit our system website. During intercession or vacations, class cancellations and/or delays are not announced on the radio, and union policies give some staff members quite a bit of flexibility regarding arrival times at work. However, if the weather turns bad overnight, and staff reasonably believe that the weather is bad enough to have caused a delay or cancellation at their college had school been in session, they should assume that the staff training classes will have been cancelled.

Please note that this policy does NOT apply to BANNER training sessions, which are typically scheduled by the specific BANNER Application teams. If  you have a question about whether a Banner training session will be held, you need to contact the person on the Banner team that scheduled the training regarding cancellations.

BISN Directors:  If an IITT class is being managed through a college's BISN office, the director should notify instructors teaching the classes about this policy, and be prepared to contact instructors in the event that a cancellation looks likely. Each colleges' IITT contact person should also communicate this policy to staff and faculty who reserve seats in IITT classes. In general, "when in doubt, cancel out" if the weather looks as though it will be poor. The earlier, the better.
