Welcome to the Connecticut Community College System's WebCT resources and information site. This site is intended to provide resources to faculty, staff, and students seeking more information about how WebCT Vista and online technology can enhance the learning and teaching process in our system.

Very shortly, our system will be moving to Blackboard Vista, the newest version of our system’s course management system, which is used to facilitate the creation and delivery of web-based educational environments. Since the merger of WebCT and Blackboard in February 2006, the new system name is now “Blackboard Learning System – Vista Enterprise Edition”.

Blackboard Vista provides a standardized interface used by both faculty and students, which includes a set of online educational tools to facilitate learning, communication and collaboration.

The new interface is very similar to WebCT Vista, but in many ways it is more intuitive in both navigation and functionality for course designers/instructors and students. It’s also got some great new features, like a course map for easy navigation to all course content, the ability to create “blog”-format discussions as well as student journals, and new grading forms for the creation of course rubrics. New active learning enhancements include peer review features, and features that enable students to contribute to course web links and media library collections.

Faculty who wish to attend training in Blackboard Vista can find classes on our system’s IITT Course Cart Online Registration System for faculty and staff.

The Connecticut Community College System went live with WebCT Vista in Fall, 2005. Want more information? Check out the WebCT FAQs page.
