Norwalk Community College – Continuing Master Plan Development
The master plan,
as approved by the Board of Trustees, endorses a multi-phase development
to serve the continuing growth at the college.
The continued renovations to the west campus, plus the addition of the
50,000 GSF Health and Science Building, comprise Phase II of the Master
Plan. This phase includes new biology, chemistry and physics labs, space
to expand the nursing, respiratory and paramedic programs in the new
building, plus completion of renovation of wing A, and the modernizing
of wing C for classrooms and academic spaces. Parking and circulation
improvements to the west campus are included in this phase to help
alleviate a parking shortage. The architect is in the early design
stages with construction funding anticipated for FY 2008.
Phase III of the master plan allows for an approximately 20,000 GSF
addition to the library located on the East Campus plus some interior
renovations. An extensive renovation and small addition to the existing
theater will allow for a state-of-the-art forum for the college and
community. The west campus renovations will be completed with wing B
renovation which will include a new roof, façade, cafeteria, culinary
arts lab, interior systems, and classroom upgrades. A new 19,000 GSF
building will house a student center with state-of-the-art classroom
space.
