Career Exploration
Career exploration is the process of choosing
jobs and the appropriate education and training programs that match
your interests, abilities, and personal and financial needs. Before
you begin any education or training program do your homework.
Assess your interests, values, and
skills
- What
have you liked/disliked
about past jobs?
- Do
you like routine, repetitive
jobs?
- Do
you enjoy the adrenalin
rush of emergency situations?
- Are
you detail oriented?
- Do
you like working with
people?
- Are
you physically fit and
able to lift 75 pounds?
- Do
you mind standing or
sitting for long periods of time?
- Are
you comfortable with
the sight of blood or bodily fluids?
- Would
you be able to work in
a dark environment (e.g. hospital basement)?
- Would
the bright lights of
a surgical unit bother you?
Explore health career options
- What
are the job tasks and working conditions?
- What
is the employment outlook (CT & nationally)?
- What
is the salary range?
- What

requirements?
