The Academic & Career Skills Center is committed
to helping students achieve
their career goals through
career exploration, assessment,
advising, and academic and
career skills development. Legal and social advocacy support is
available to assist students with problems they face outside the
classroom. Mentoring and professional development is available to
assist students as they transition into the workplace or higher
education.
This online center offers:
- A High School Pathway that provides
guidelines to help high school students select courses and electives that will best prepare them
for a career in health care.
- Health Career Pathways that
represent possible paths
students can take to advance in high demand health care occupations.
- Career Exploration tools
and Resources to guide students through
the process of choosing
jobs and the appropriate education and training programs that match
their interests, abilities, personal and financial needs.
- A schedule of health care Information Sessions/Open
Houses conducted
at local colleges.
- Health Career Advising and
assessment services to
assist students in developing Individual Education and Health Career
Plans.
- Support Services, including
social and legal advocacy
support from the Connecticut
Women’s
Education and Legal Fund
(CWEALF), professional
development and mentoring
through the Eastern Connecticut
Area Health Education
Center (AHEC) and the
Allied Health Professional
Network (AHPN), and academic
remediation and career
skills training through
KeyTrain.
